2021-22 Season Evaluations

New 2021-22 SHC Evaluation Process  

In an effort to improve the evaluation process for this upcoming season, SHC has joined Hockey Alberta and neighbouring minor hockey associations in adopting a hockey player evaluation app called Team Genius.  

Team Genius has an easy-to-use platform for managing tryouts, clinics, coach and player development programs. The platform allows staff and board members to prepare for tryouts by setting up criteria, uploading players, scheduling ice sessions, and more.

Evaluators will use the mobile app rather than paper during tryouts to allow scores and notes to be submitted in real-time and avoid the time-consuming paper and spreadsheet transfer. This app will not only streamline the evaluation process and ensure more accuracy, but also save many hours of work for our volunteers and allow for directors to send out the groupings for each evaluation skate more efficiently.  

TeamGenius’ analytics back-end will also give directors and coaches the data they need to make roster decisions for teams in each division while making the process a more positive experience for themselves and the players.

The feedback we have received on this evaluation platform from other associations has been overwhelming positive and we are looking forward to using the app this season, as well as in the years to come.
