Message from the Executive

Sep. 22, 2021

Just a reminder that the City of Edmonton is erring on the side of caution with the implementation of their Restrictions Exemption Program by retaining their position that people ages 12 and older MUST provide proof of their COVID vaccination, documentation of a medical exemption or a privately obtained COVID test showing a negative result in the last 72 hours in order to enter a City of Edmonton recreation or arena facility.

Although many facilities in Alberta have recently changed their policy to not require youth ages 12-17 who are participating in sporting activities to provide proof of vaccination or a negative covid test, facilities are allowed to enforce stricter measures.

As SHC is part of the Edmonton Federation Hockey League (EFHL), this will require players ages 12+ who are playing league games in City of Edmonton arena facilities to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test to participate.

Once again, SHC understands this decision will also have an effect on how families choose to proceed with the 2021-22 season. We ask coaches and families to please let our directors know as soon as possible if they are unable to continue with the season.

Please refer to our policies and procedures regarding refunds for players withdrawing for personal reasons prior to the start of the season (October 1, 2021).
