WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY?

Sturgeon Hockey Club: Appendix A – Refund Policy

POLICY:

  • All player registration fees include a $150.00 non-refundable administration fee that is applied to season registration fees. This fee covers credit card fees and admin costs.
  • A full refund, less the admin fee, will ONLY be issued if a player withdraws prior to evaluations.
  • If a player withdraws during evaluations, an additional $150.00 evaluation fee will be retained.
  • No refunds are given after evaluations are completed and teams are formed.
  • Players who make an AA or elite team outside SHC will receive a full refund, unless they attended SHC evaluations — then SHC keeps $150.00.
  • If a player withdraws after the season starts, they must pay all team cash call & fundraising fees. Failure to do so may block their release or transfer.

SUPPLEMENTARY NOTES:

  • Camp Fees, ID Skate Fees, and Tryout Fees are non-refundable.
  • Refunds for health, relocation, or exceptional reasons require a written request to the SHC President. A medical note may be required.

ARE THERE ANY ADDITIONAL COSTS TO PLAYING HOCKEY?

There are additional costs to playing hockey that are not included in your SHC registration fee. SHC hockey teams may engage in additional activities such as tournaments, extra practices, apparel, etc.

At the start of the season, each team is required to propose a budget to parents and conduct a vote to ensure the majority of families support the additional expenses.

CAN I REQUEST TO PLAY WITH A FRIEND?

Unfortunately, no. This is due to several factors, including each player's evaluation placement.

*Sibling requests will be considered, but not guaranteed, in all divisions.

WE HAVE JUST MOVED WITHIN THE SHC BOUNDARIES. HOW DO I TRANSFER MY CHILD FROM ANOTHER HOCKEY ASSOCIATION?

Before you are able to register, you will need to fill out a Hockey Alberta Parent Declaration Form.

Please use the email: registrar@sturgeonhockeyclub.com when prompted to add the Minor Hockey Association email that you are registering with.

You will be required to upload two documents to your Parent Declaration to prove residency in the Sturgeon Hockey Club boundaries. Examples of residency documents can be a utility bill, driver’s license, mortgage/rental agreement, etc.

IS THERE A FEE TO TRANSFER BETWEEN PROGRAMS?

You can transfer your registration to another program before September 1st. For example, if SHC were to offer Non-Contact programming at U15–U18, you can move between Non-Contact and Contact. There is a $25 transfer fee. Transfers will not be processed after September 1st.

Please contact registrar@sturgeonhockeyclub.com to initiate the request.

IS THERE FINANCIAL SUPPORT AVAILABLE TO OFFSET HOCKEY REGISTRATION FEES?

Minor hockey costs are growing every year, and it is important for all families to feel comfortable coming forward if they need help. Sturgeon Hockey Club wants everyone to have the opportunity to participate in minor hockey. If financial circumstances become a barrier to a child’s involvement, we are committed to providing support to families.

Resources are available to help families with registration fees. More information is available in our Policy and Procedures Manual, Section 6: Financial Hardship Cases.
