Sturgeon Hockey Club

FUNDRAISING

For any questions regarding fundraising, please contact SHC’s Director of Ways and Means:  waysandmeansdirector@sturgeonhockeyclub.com.

FUNDRAISING REASONS

Teams should be fundraising to help subsidize hockey expenses only. Funds raised may be used for, but not limited to:

  • tournament entry fees
  • exhibition games
  • extra ice for practices
  • team SHC logo wear

*Please refrain from fundraising for a year-end party or non-hockey related events.
*All team fundraising events or sales must first be approved by the Director of Ways and Means.

REASONS FOR NOTIFYING WAY AND MEANS
To avoid overlapping events and to maximize fundraising success, we maintain an organized schedule of team fundraising efforts. For instance, if three teams hold a bottle drive in South Glens on the same weekend, it’s unlikely to be profitable for any of them. By coordinating efforts and ensuring compliance, we can help suggest alternative locations, dates, or types of fundraisers that will be more effective for your team.

To submit a request for a fundraising event, please email the Director of Ways and Means with the details of your planned activity.

AFTER COMPLETION OF A FUNDRAISER EVENT
Upon completion of any fundraiser, please forward the amount raised by your team to the Ways and Means Director. The information regarding the dollar amount raised for any team fundraising will be used by Ways and Means strictly for information purposes. If a team asks for suggestions on how to fundraise, we can then provide them with ideas and an estimate of the amount they could expect to raise based on the information you submit. We want to help our SHC teams be as successful as possible in their fundraising efforts.

BOTTLE DRIVES: HOW TO

Team Fundraising Guidelines & Area Coordination
To ensure the success of all fundraising efforts, ALL team events and sales must first be approved by the Director of Ways and Means. This approval process helps prevent overlapping activities, especially in high-traffic areas, and maximizes the effectiveness of each team’s efforts.

Why Approval is Important

An organized fundraising schedule reduces duplicate events within the same area and time period. For example, if three teams hold a bottle drive in South Glens on the same weekend, it’s unlikely to be profitable for any. With proper coordination and compliance, we can suggest alternative areas, dates, or fundraising activities that benefit your team and respect the community's capacity.

Area Selection Guidelines

  • Each team may choose one (1) area for their bottle drive.
  • Be mindful that other teams may also be requesting the same areas. The Director of Ways and Means will do their best to coordinate locations to:
    • Prevent overlapping,
    • Maximize potential collections, and
    • Avoid overwhelming the community.

Available Areas by Color Code

  • Yellow – Classy Corner and Southwest
  • Blue – Larose Place and Old Town
  • Red – The Lakes
  • Green – Forest Glen
  • Purple – Sunshine
