SHC REGISTRATION FEES

2025–2026

Each year, the Sturgeon Hockey Club (SHC) Executive carefully reviews and approves an operating budget to ensure we continue to deliver a high-quality hockey program. Registration fees are determined based on projected income and expenses.

For the past three seasons, we’ve proudly maintained registration fees without any increases. However, for the upcoming 2025–2026 season, a fee adjustment has become necessary with a $50 increase at the U7 level and a $75 increase for the U9 to U18 divisions, due to several key factors such as:

  • Increase in the Number of Teams: We are excited to expand our Female (Fillies) program with the addition of four new teams this season. While it’s encouraging to see female hockey growing in the Sturgeon area, this expansion also brings increased costs and greater demand for ice time.
  • Ice Rental Costs: The Town of Legal has increased its ice rental rates with the reopening of its beautifully upgraded arena for the upcoming season. Additionally, we will be utilizing other arenas, where we are also anticipating rate increases.
  • Global Merchant and Website Fees: Essential platforms such as Stripe and Team Linkt allow us to securely process credit card payments and manage registrations efficiently. These services have experienced cost increases in recent years but remain vital to the smooth operation of our association.
  • Hockey Canada Participant Fee: This mandatory fee has increased by $11.68, bringing the total to $41.41 per player—a substantial change that impacts our overall budgeting.
  • Administrative Costs: Expenses related to delivering the exciting programming our members enjoy each season continue to rise, contributing to the need for this adjustment.

Please know that we remain deeply committed to making hockey as accessible and affordable as possible for all families, while continuing to offer a well-organized and enriching experience for every player.
