Sturgeon Hockey Club

THE IMPORTANCE OF A TEAM MANAGER
Team Managers play a vital role in the success of every Sturgeon Hockey Club team. As the central point of communication, the manager ensures that players, parents, coaches, and league officials stay informed, organized, and connected throughout the season.

Why Team Managers Matter:

The manager is the go-to person for handling the off-ice operations of the team. This allows the coaching staff to focus entirely on what matters most: player development and on-ice performance. From scheduling and administration to communication and coordination, the manager keeps the team running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the communication link between players, parents, coaches, and the club.
  • Coordinate with the Minor Hockey Association, league directors, officials, and other teams.
  • Assist with scheduling, tournament planning, and team logistics.
  • Support the enforcement of club policies and expectations.

Important Notes:

  • A team manager cannot manage a team if their spouse is the head coach.
  • A team manager may only manage one team per season.
  • To maintain fairness and objectivity, it is strongly preferred that the Parent Liaison is someone who is not related to the team’s head coach.

We appreciate the time and energy our volunteer managers give to their teams. Your contributions help create a positive and organized hockey experience for everyone involved.  Thank you for stepping into this important role. We look forward to meeting you at the SHC Coach/Manager Meeting.  Good luck this season—and see you at the rink!
