WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

Sturgeon Hockey Club is looking for members of our community who are passionate about hockey and want to help keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.

You do not need to know everything. You do need to care, communicate, and be willing to help.

THE IDEAL VOLUNTEER

πŸ’ Love hockey and want to support our players
πŸ’ Are comfortable using email
πŸ’ Can check and reply to emails in a timely way
πŸ’ Are able to attend evaluations and help manage their assigned age level
πŸ’ Want to be part of making SHC stronger for our families and players

IMPORTANT CONFLICT RULE

To keep things fair and transparent, volunteers cannot be the Director of the same age level their child plays in.

For example, if your child is playing U11, you would not be eligible to be the U11 Director, but you may be able to help in another age group or another volunteer role.

WHY VOLUNTEER?

Because hockey does not run on coffee and poutine alone. Although... it definitely helps.

Volunteering is a great way to meet families, understand how the club works, support our athletes, and become part of the team behind the teams.

WHAT DOES IT ENTAIL?

Level Director (U7, U9, U11, U13, U15, U18)

Acts as the communication link between the age group, Hockey Operations, and the EFHL. Supports managers and parent liaisons, shares important league information, and helps ensure the season runs smoothly for teams and families. This role typically requires 1–3 hours per week, depending on the age group, with most responsibilities able to be completed remotely.

Member at Large

  • Operational Oversight: Supervise Tiering Directors and help ensure league operations are conducted with a strong "Player First" focus while maintaining compliance with league policies and procedures.
  • Discipline and Suspensions: Review game sheets, monitor infractions, and administer suspensions related to both game sheet management violations and in-game penalties.
  • Permit and Request Management: Review and process in-province travel permits, game change requests, and other league-related approvals in a timely manner.
  • Championships and Playoffs: Provide oversight and support for divisions throughout the regular season, Minor Hockey Week, and City Championships to ensure fair and consistent competition.
  • Sanctioning Exhibition Games: Review and approve exhibition game requests while maintaining accurate electronic records and tracking of sanctioned events.
