INTRO TO HOCKEY (2020-2022)
Intro to Hockey is a program offered by the Sturgeon Hockey Club for the youngest aspiring players, designed to help them begin building foundational hockey skills in a fun, supportive, and enjoyable environment. Players participate in one on-ice session per week, focusing on basic skating, puck handling, and the fundamentals of the game. The program is open to all children born between 2018 and 2021 who reside within the Sturgeon Hockey Club boundaries. It runs for 16 weeks, with scheduling and operation dependent on enrollment numbers. Registration is $200 for the full 16-week session.

U7 (2019-2021)
The U7 division is where the hockey journey begins at SHC. Designed for players aged 5 and 6 (typically born in 2018 and 2019), this division focuses on creating a fun and inclusive environment where kids can learn the basic skills of hockey—skating, puck control, passing, and shooting—while building friendships and confidence on the ice. Our U7 program follows Hockey Canada's Long-Term Player Development model, with an emphasis on age-appropriate instruction and plenty of time for free play and small-area games. Sessions are structured but playful, with development and enjoyment as top priorities. Players typically skate on Saturday and Sunday, including practices and informal games, all held locally. The goal is to build a strong foundation in the sport while ensuring every child has a positive and encouraging first experience in organized hockey. Whether your child is brand new to hockey or already comfortable on skates, U7 is the perfect starting point.
