AA Sting Program History
The Sturgeon Sting began play in the 2014 season with U13, U15 and U18 AA teams. Sturgeon Sting teams draw elite level hockey players from 7 minor hockey associations:
CR Knights Minor Hockey Association - Calahoo, Riviere Qui Barre and surrounding area
CNN Minor Hockey Association - Bon Accord, Gibbons and surrounding area
Athabasca & District Minor Hockey Association
Westlock Minor Hockey Association
Barrhead Minor Hockey Association
Wabasca/Desmarais Minor Hockey Association
Sturgeon Hockey Club - Morinville, Legal and surrounding area
The focus of the Sting hockey program is to develop hockey players to be able to move on into AAA, College and Jr. Hockey careers. We place a premium on developing coaching and player skills and work hard to prepare players for the next level of hockey. Sting AA hockey development thrives on a culture of excellence through high character and team first mentality. We work hard, improve, perform, grow and build as a Sting family. In 2022 we introduced U11AA to the Sting family. Go Sting!
